Zobo (sorrel)

Zobo leaves are used to make zobo drink also known as sorrel drink / hibiscus tea. Zobo drink is a natural drink that can be easily prepared at home  and served hot or cold. Because zobo drink starts to ferment a few hours after its made, it is best consumed immediately or stored in the freezer so it can keep for more days. Zobo leaves are leaves of the hibiscus plant which are usually dried and mixed with water and sugar to produce Zobo rodo or hibiscus tea. The leaves deliver a dark red color to the hibiscus tea, as its sap and phytonutrients diffuse into the solvent. Hibiscus sabdariffa, also known as Zobo, was found to restore insulin sensitivity of cells and thereby helped in lowering blood sugar levels of diabetics.
